Function of Department
  • To accept and dispose of all solid waste generated in Phillips County.
  • To insure and maintain compliance with all State and Federal regulations regarding solid waste

Landfill Hours

Monday through Friday:

  • 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for solid waste
  • 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for Yard Waste, Construction/Demolition, White Goods & Concrete
  • 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. for the Receyling Center

Saturday:

  • 8 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for All Waste & Recycling
  • Closed Saturdays from the last Saturday in October until the last Saturday in March

ALL LOADS ARE INSPECTED AND WEIGHED
HOURS AND REGULATION ARE POSTED AT THE ENTRANCE GATE.  LOADS MUST BE SECURED SO NOTHING ESCAPES YOUR VEHICLE – IF NOT SECURED, YOU WILL PAY DOUBLE THE GOING RATE OF YOUR LOAD.

TREES and LIMBS are not to be over 8 feet in length. Residents: No cost for 8 inches & under in diameter for limbs.  Those over 8 inches in diameter pay according to load rates.  Lawn Service: LS fee for each load of yard waste and limbs under 8 inches in diameter.  Those over 8 inches in diameter pay according to load rates.

State Regulations

No petroleum-based products such as fuel, motor oil, etc.  No paints, paint thinner, batteries, acids, antifreeze, poisons, friable asbestos, etc.  ALL aerosol containers must be empty and dry.  Pesticide jugs must be triple rinsed and dry.

Special Waste must be accompanied by a Disposal Authorization issued by KDHE.

Household hazardous waste day will be announced by paper and radio each Spring.
